A brand-new 1.1 million tonnes per annum blue ammonia project in Beaumont, Texas, is set to boost the future of zero-carbon ammonia-fuelled engine ships.
Hydrogen project specialist OCI today (8th Sep) said it has started construction at the landmark site that is set to be operational in Q1 2025.
News of the facility adds to OCI’s withstanding ammonia projects, such as its import terminal at the Port of Rotterdam which is currently has a capacity at 1.2 million tonnes per annum.
To support the Netherlands-based site, the firm has already said that blue ammonia produced in Texas will be supplied to the European plant.
