Honeywell buying Air Products’ liquefied natural gas (LNG) process technology and equipment business for $1.81bn in an all-cash transaction was undoubtedly the most eye-catching news of recent weeks.
With the acquisition, Honeywell aims to offer customers a “comprehensive, top-tier solution for their energy transformation”.
The expanded offering will encompass natural gas pre-treatment and modern liquefaction facilities, utilising digital automation technologies unified under the Honeywell Forge and Experion platforms. It promises to be a full-service solution to enable “efficient, reliable and optimised management of natural gas assets,” according to a statement.
Currently Honeywell provides a pre-treatment solution serving LNG customers globally. Air Products’ complementary LNG process technology and equipment business includes in-house design and manufacturing of coil-wound heat exchangers (CWHE) and related equipment.
