Demand for dry ice is on the rise and, with new applications for the solid state of carbon dioxide (CO2) constantly emerging, that looks set to continue. Dry ice comes in many forms, from pellets to slices, and serves a range of applications, from standard refrigeration to blast cleaning.
Predictions suggest a 6.5% compound annual growth rate from 2019 to 2028. In the US alone, a large percentage of this demand will be due to growing demand for frozen foods and the increasing use of cold chain transportation, plus a strong rise in blast cleaning demand.
Speaking at the GAWDA SMC earlier this year, Jeff Holyoak, Vice-President of Sales and Market Development at TOMCO Systems, described cold chain supply, utilising dry ice, as a “mega trend,” and tomorrow he’ll be diving deeper into its potential.
Speaking to gasworld.tv, Holyoak explains how TOMCO wants to “reinvent how dry ice is made.” He explained, “Around two years ago TOMCO decided that we weren’t just going to catch-up by looking what’s on the market today and have that ‘me too’ outlook. We want to reinvent the wheel.”
