Scotland will take delivery of what will be one of its largest energy storage systems as part of a project to address stability issues in the UK energy system.
Technology group Wärtsilä will supply the 300 megawatt (MW)/600 MW hour energy storage system under an engineered equipment delivery contract to electric vehicle fleet and battery storage specialist Zenobē.
The project will also mark Wärtsilä’s first facility built with its Quantum High Energy (QuantumHE) energy storage system.
According to the company, QuantumHE provides increased energy density for Zenobē and is fitted with features to ensure the highest level of safety for the surrounding community.
