Energy infrastructure firm VTTI has acquired a 50% stake in UK-based Dragon LNG, with oil and gas giant Shell owning the other 50%.
News of the acquisition marks VTTI’s second LNG regasification terminal investment this year. In April, the company announced its intention to acquire a 70% stake in Italy’s Adriatic LNG.
Dragon LNG’s regasification terminal is one of three LNG terminals in the UK. Located in Wales, the site is comprised of LNG receiving, storage, reliquefication, regasification, and send-out facilities.
The site has a maximum gas send out to the UK national transmission system of up to nine billion cubic metres, supplying around 10% of the UK’s annual gas demand.
