There are early signs of possible constraints in the supply of bulk gases, which is shifting the US distributor model from a buy-and-resell approach towards a vertically integrated system, relying less on the industrial gas majors for products.
It is a key challenge identified by Rich Mansmann, Vice-President of the IWDC, and Ashley Bivins, Director of the IWDC’s PurityPlus programme, when interviewed by gasworld.
“These constraints are not an immediate or critical concern. But as our members’ businesses are growing, they are cautious about medium- and long-term supply chain challenges,” Mansmann said.
Bulk gases including oxygen, nitrogen, argon, helium, hydrogen, and CO2, as well as related equipment like tanks, cylinders, and ancillary items, could face constraints, he added.
