A Republican victory at the US election in November is unlikely to derail momentum that has built behind decarbonisation in the last two years.
That was the consensus from a panel discussion at the Decarbonisation Summit in the Westin New Jersey on Wednesday (April 10).
Donald Trump has repeatedly attacked central elements of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and made high-profile comments about the veracity of climate change – while only 12% of Republicans cited climate change as a top priority in a January survey.
Yet it is uncertain whether a change of administration would go as far as repeal the IRA, which has built up a huge head of steam with its $369bn-worth of incentives since it was passed in August 2022.
