The Biden-Harris Administration has released the US’ first National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap with a strategy to produce 50 million metric tonnes of clean hydrogen annually by 2050 to achieve Net Zero emissions within the same year.
Designed to accelerate the production, processing, delivery, storage and use of clean hydrogen, the roadmap is part of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda that has announced over $470bn worth of investment into manufacturing and clean energies.
A highly anticipated release, the strategy examines a strategic opportunity for the domestic production of 10 million metric tonnes of clean hydrogen annually by 2030, 20 million metric tonnes annually by 2040, and 50 million metric tonnes annually by 2050.
The National Clean Hydrogen Strategy and Roadmap was developed by the US Department of Energy (DOE) in partnership with other federal agencies, to support Biden’s ambitions for the country.
