The UK has reached an ‘historic milestone’ in its journey to net zero following the launch of the country’s first mass produced hydrogen-electric truck, marking the next stage of the transition from fossil-based fuels to low carbon energy.
Having designed the truck’s ‘plug and play’ hydrogen storage system in partnership with Tevva engineers and alternative fuel specialists, Luxfer Gas Cylinders (Luxfer) has celebrated the launch.
The UK-based gas equipment specialist saw its engineers support electric truck manufacturer Tevva’s work to adapt its battery-electric HGV design to accommodate a hydrogen fuel cell system that tops up the battery and extends the truck’s range by 310 miles (500km).
