Rt Hon Claire Coutinho MP, the newly appointment Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, reaffirmed the Government’s commit to the carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and the UK clusters programme while speaking at the Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA)’s annual conference this week.
Taking place on the 17th and 18th October in Westminster, the ‘CCUS 2023 Springboard to Net Zero’ event features speakers including former Government Chief Scientist Sir David King and Coutinho, who announced the Government’s plan to publish its vision for the CCUS sector later this year.
The conference aims to emphasise the significance of CCUS in achieving Net Zero emissions – a topic highlighted in the Government’s recently published CCUS Delivery Plan Update 2023.
Industry also reaffirmed its commitment to the plan with the launch of the Carbon Capture Project Pipeline online map, which provides the underlying data for the Delivery Plan which outlines the initiatives and milestones for achieving Net Zero emissions.
