The UK Government has launched a consultation on proposed legislation for a ban on retail sales of nitrous oxide.
Announced in March, the ban is part of a wider Anti-Social Behaviour Action Plan created by the government to crack down on those who abuse the gas.
To be issued under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, the new law will give nitrous oxide a Class C rating, making both retail sale and possession of the gas a criminal offence for the first time.
