TotalEnergies has joined forces with Tree Energy Solutions (TES) to investigate the feasibility of a large-scale e-natural gas (e-NG) production facility in Houston, Texas.
A synthetic gas produced from renewable hydrogen and carbon dioxide (CO2), e-NG can be transported and/or liquefied, then sold like natural gas using existing infrastructure.
For the project, TotalEnergies will provide a 1GW electrolyser, powered by 2GW of wind and solar energy, to generate renewable hydrogen. This renewable hydrogen will then be combined with biogenic CO2 to obtain the e-NG.
The duo hope to produce up to 200,000 metric tonnes of e-NG annually at the site.
