Carbon emission reduction technology company Topsoe has announced the approval of its 2040 Net Zero target by the Science Based Targets initiative, an organisation that enables organisations and companies to set science-based greenhouse gas emission (GHG) reduction targets.
In addition to its overall Net Zero target, Topsoe has gained approval for its near-term targets (NTT) and long-term targets.
As part of its NTT, the company has committed to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 95% by 2030 from a 2020 base year. It also aims to increase annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2020 to 100% by 2030.
It has also committed that 74% of its suppliers by emissions covering a range of activities must have science-based targets by 2027.
