Sustainable solutions developer Topsoe will work alongside decarbonisation technology specialist Standard Gas Technologies (Standard Gas) for a UK-based project to produce renewable natural gas (RNG) – also called biomethane – and methanol from residual waste feedstocks.
Under the terms of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), technologies, engineering, equipment items and catalysts used to process the synthesis gas produced by Standard Gas will be supplied by Topsoe.
While biomethane is typically produced via anaerobic digestion (AD) and upgrading, biomethanation of the syngas derived from the gasification of waste has emerged as a promising alternative.
Commenting on the announcement, Peter Vang Christensen, Senior Vice President, Clean Fuels & Chemical at Topsoe, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Standard Gas to address waste management, which continues to be a significant challenge to society.”
