During a press conference on 29th April, Taiyo Nippon Sanso Co. (TNSC) announced an upper management re-shuffle.
Among the changes, President Hirosuke Matsueda, was appointed as Chairman, while Executive Vice President Yasunobu Kawaguchi was appointed President.
Senior Managing Director, Fumio Hara was appointed Executive Director and Advisor. These preliminary changes are expected to be formalised at the General Meeting of the Shareholders scheduled to take place on 29th June.
Of particular significance was Fumio Hara’s appointment to Executive Vice-President, while the other two Managing Directors, Kenichiro Ebisawa and Toyoo Go stepped down. Hara benefits from experience in the electronics industry and will be providing sales support to the Matsueda-Kawaguchi team.
During the conference, Matsueda commented, “For about 6 years since the merger and the launching of our company in October of 2004, Chairman Taguchi, Vice-President Kawaguchi, and I have been involved in the management of the company.”
He noted that TNSC was detrimented by the financial crisis, however, “In the financial closing of March of this year, the company was able to reach figures which indicated somewhat of a recovery. While this year marks the 100th year since the establishment of the former Nippon Sanso, next year will involve another 3-year medium term business plan, starting in April. Amidst all of these happenings, a start under a new management team did seem appropriate.”
Matsueda explained the arrangement, “I will become the chairman, and Mr Kawaguchi, the new President; together we will shoulder total responsibility for corporate management.” The new leadership plans to focus upon increased efficiency, global outlook and electronics-related business.
Looking to the future, Kawaguchi said, “Our new three year medium-term business plan, which gets underway next year, should be geared to the strengthening of our business foundation for the next 50 or 100 years, and I would like to head for this in cooperation with our new Chairman, Mr Matsueda.”
