The Gas Industry Safety Group (GISG) has announced it is backing an online petition to have carbon monoxide (CO) testing equipment made mandatory in GP surgeries throughout the UK.
Via this initiative, originally launched by UK-based boiler and home care business CORGI HomePlan, the presence of CO detection equipment in all GP surgeries could improve diagnosis when patients show symptoms which could have been caused by CO exposure.
This scheme underlines the organisation’s stance on utilising the correct equipment used for detecting CO poisoning and the presence of the gas itself, including audible alarms, personal alarm for all first responders and flue gas analysers for gas engineers.
