Texas LNG Brownsville taps Kiewit for EPC; advancing towards FID

Texas LNG Brownsville, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Energy Transition, has awarded Kiewit Energy with an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) for Texas LNG.

Based in the Port of Brownsville, Texas LNG aims to be a four million tonnes per annum liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal. The project developers are targeting a start-up date of 2028.

Under terms of the deal Texas LNG will also work with Kiewit to complete the pre-final investment decision (FID) engineering to advance the project to FID.

This follows Texas LNG signing a Heads of Agreement, securing offtake commitments sufficient for the project to advance to a FID.

Brendan Duval, CEO and Founder of Glenfarne, and Co-President of Texas LNG, said, “Kiewit’s proposal, capability, and partnership vision for Texas LNG, as well as its execution and implementation expertise on the US Gulf Coast, made a substantial impression on our project team. We look forward to working with them.”

Glenfarne Energy Transition is the developer, owner, and operator of energy transition infrastructure and the majority owner and managing member of Texas LNG. A joint venture between Technip Energies USA and Samsung Engineering is leading the delivery of the facility.

Eric Gutierrez, Executive Vice-President of Kiewit Energy, said he is excited to partner with Glenfarne to deliver the LNG project in the region.

“Our extensive experience delivering complex, integrated LNG EPC projects for our clients continues to be a differentiator for our company. We appreciate the opportunity to work with a client committed to developing important energy infrastructure opportunities in the US.”
