Denmark-based tank control system specialist Svanehøj has joined forces with researchers at Engie Lab Crigen (Engie) to develop more effective offshore safety measures surrounding liquefied natural gas (LNG) on floating storage regasification units (FSRUs).
The project aims to address safety risks such as stratifications and roll-overs that may occur when natural gas is liquefied and stored in a cryogenic state.
With an anticipated rise in the construction of FSRUs, as they offer a more accessible alternative for LNG storage, the partners will leverage their joint expertise to increase the understanding of roll-over occurrence on FSRUs by developing suitable prediction software.
