Summit Carbon Solutions has submitted a revised pipeline permit application to the North Dakota Public Service Commission, addressing previously raised concerns related to it its planned carbon capture pipeline.
For the proposed pipeline, Summit Carbon Solutions is partnering with more than 30 ethanol plants across a five-state region: Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Nebraska.
However, it was announced earlier this month (August 2023) that the North Dakota Public Service Commission had rejected Summit Carbon Solutions’ permit application.
The Commission said it had received extensive public comment which saw members of the public express broad concerns regarding eminent domain, safety, the policy of permanent CO2 sequestration and storage, setback distances, irreparable harm to underground drain tile systems, impacts on property values, and the ability to obtain liability insurance due to the project.
