Singapore’s position as a liquefied natural gas (LNG) and chemicals hub is set to be strengthened by the announcement that Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG) is collaborating with Keppel Infrastructure (KI) through its subsidiary Keppel Energy (KE) and another unnamed industry partner.
The partnership will focus on the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for a Natural Gas Liquids (NGL) facility at the SLNG Terminal on Jurong Island, Singapore.
The project intends to adopt a sustainable approach towards enhancing Singapore’s Energy Security. The NGL Extraction Facility will incorporate cold energy from the SLNG Terminal’s extraction process operations involving removing heavier hydrocarbons such as ethane or propane from LNG.
This reuse of energy can lead to a reduction in the amount of carbon dioxide released in the separation process.
