Showa Denko Gas Product Co., Ltd. (SGP), a consolidated subsidiary of Showa Denko (SDK), has built a new plant to produce liquefied carbon dioxide (LCO2).
The plant is located in its Oita Plant located in the premise of SDK’s Oita Petrochemical Complex and has already started shipment of products.
SGP have been producing LCO2 and dry ice at multiple production bases including Kawasaki Plant, which functions as the main base, and Yokkaichi Plant.
The start-up of the Oita Plant has given SGP an additional capacity to produce 15,000 tonnes of LCO2 per year. Under tight supply-demand concerning LCO2 and dry ice, SGP have managed to maintain a stable supply of CO2 products to customers throughout Japan through long distance transportation and the imports of dry ice.
