Global chemicals and energy company Sasol will work alongside carbon emission reduction technology specialist Topsoe for the joint production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF).
Having signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the companies plan to establish a 50/50 joint venture (JV) to develop, build, own and operate ventures producing SAF based on Sasol’s Fischer Tropsch technology and Topsoe’s SAF technologies.
According to Sasol, the JV will produce SAF derived from green hydrogen, sustainable sources of carbon dioxide (CO2) and/or biomass.
Stating that the MoU underlines the company’s ambitions to pursue wider decarbonisation, Roeland Baan, CEO at Topsoe, added, “If we are to reach Net Zero on a global scale by 2050 in order to fight climate change, all solutions need to be put into play.”
