Industrial flow control equipment manufacturer Rotork has installed its part-turn intelligent electric actuator technology in several Belgian gas pressure reducing stations to provide flow control while mitigating the release of greenhouse gases (GHGs).
The IQT actuators were ordered by Fluxys Belgium, operator of 4,000 km of pipeline, a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, and an underground storage facility in the country.
By supporting pressure reduction of natural gas, the technology allows its flow through a network operated at a lower pressure or be transferred to an end consumer’s facilities.
The process cools the natural gas, requiring it to be pre-heated by boilers to keep the downstream temperature within a certain range.
