Norwegian carbon removal specialist Removr is assessing the feasibility of a direct air capture (DAC) hub in the US Pacific Northwest with support of a $3m grant from the US Department of Energy (DOE).
Removr is one of 13 public and private entities that have been selected to work on the Ankeron Carbon Management Hub that will store carbon through mineralisation in basaltic rock, at commercial scale, for the first time in the US.
Located in eastern Washington state and Oregon, the hub will take a “community first” approach to product design and governance in support of the Justice40 and Carbon Negative Shot policy goals.
