Qatar’s LNG supply routes undergo more disruption, bringing this year’s full disruptions to service to seven.
Qatar’s Ras Laffan Liquefied Natural Gas Company closes its sixth train for maintenance. This follows last month’s closure of LNG Units 1 and 2, also for maintenance reasons. RasGas, which is based in the capital, Doha, plans to resume activity at both units this week.
Meanwhile, Train six constitutes one of the world’s largest LNG production lines – each unit of which offers an annual capacity of 7.8m tonnes of liquefied natural gas. The country’s two primary LNG producers, RasGas and Qatar Liquefied Company (QatarGas), have shutdown a total of four other units throughout the year. Furthermore QatarGas recently announced plans to stop operation altogether on its fifth unit later in the summer.
