Preview: Webinar to examine CO2 supply, technology and future challenges

While carbon dioxide supply chains continue to face growing pressures linked to sustainability targets, market volatility and infrastructure constraints, questions are emerging about how it can be more effectively managed, utilised and secured for future demand.

These issues will be the focus of gasworld’s upcoming webinar, ‘CO2: Securing supplies and exploring new pathways’, which will explore developments in CO2 capture, storage and reuse, as well as strategies for building reliable and lower-emission supply chains.

The discussion follows gasworld’s recent European CO2 Summit in Rotterdam, which highlighted the opportunities and challenges across the CO2 value chain. The event examined the role of infrastructure projects such as Porthos and Aramis in supporting industrial carbon management in Europe, alongside a growing focus on biogenic CO2 sources.

Speakers from Air Products and Nippon Gases pointed to biogenic CO2 alternatives from biogas and biomethane production as an increasingly important element of their supply strategies. An expert from the European Biogas Association also noted that biogenic CO2 could theoretically meet up to 71% of Europe’s merchant CO2 demand, provided certification schemes and clear policy frameworks are established.

These developments are expected to feature in the webinar, alongside others in carbon capture and utilisation technologies, plus investment considerations and public policy questions.

Speakers include Blair McMaster, Senior Consultant for Carbon Capture at certification agency DNV, Tomáš Suchý, Senior Product Manager at Linde Engineering, Johan Desmet, Business Director Benelux and France at Nippon Gases, and Bruce Woerner, an independent CO2 consultant.
