Preview: CO2 safety and connectivity to the fore in upcoming webinar

gasworld will explore carbon dioxide safety, compliance and real-time connectivity in its upcoming webinar, ‘In Conversation with CO2 Monitoring’.

For broadcast on 11 April, the recorded discussion features Ronald Longley, founder and President of CO2 Monitoring, in conversation with gasworld’s Content Director Rob Cockerill and Broadcast Journalist Tom Dee. The conversation focuses on the evolving CO2 compliance landscape and the role of connected technologies in supporting yield optimisation, safety and sustainability – particularly in sectors such as cannabis cultivation.

Founded in 2016, CO2 Monitoring has developed its Aerosphere line of life safety systems and compliance services for industries using CO2, from local restaurants to large stadiums. The company’s latest moves include the Aerosphere One, a single-sensor unit, plus a telemetry-enabled model for remote monitoring of CO2 tank fill levels.

“Automation and safety go hand in hand,” Longley will explain. “The future isn’t just about standalone solutions. It’s about creating a unified system where all essential functions and data are housed under one umbrella.”

That approach is being realised through cloud-based systems that enable real-time monitoring, automated alerts and remote access, helping to reduce the burden of compliance while improving safety and efficiency.

The webinar will also explore the growing importance of CO2 monitoring in the cannabis industry, where atmosphere enrichment systems often need to be integrated with fire alarms, ventilation tools and other technologies.

The discussion will touch on the potential impact of regulatory change, including the possible reclassification of cannabis under US federal law.

“Right now, cannabis is legal recreationally in 24 states and medically in 39,” Longley notes. “We’re still awaiting for the reclassification of cannabis from a Schedule I to a Schedule III substance. That would change everything. You would start to see interstate commerce and a push for standardisation.”

With an eye on the  future, CO2 Monitoring is expanding its research and development work and collaborating with university-led engineering teams. The company has also launched a new website, blog and student internship programme.

“We’re getting to work with some brilliant minds,” Longley says.
