Praxair Inc. has started up its fourth air separation unit (ASU) for Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. in Hwasung, South Korea.
The Tier One player has commissioned the 1,400 tonnes per day (tpd) unit, which will supply nitrogen (N2) to Samsung’s Hwasung site in Gyeonggi Province. Praxair has also upgraded the pipeline system to the site.
The US-based corporation was first selected to supply multiple products to Samsung Electronics’ expanding operations in the North Pacific rim country back in 2005. It has previously commissioned plants at this site in 2006 and 2008.
Samsung is one of the largest electronics companies globally. gasworld Business Intelligence estimates that revenues from onsite and pipeline contracts, such as Praxair’s operations in Hwasung, generated almost 45% of total gas revenues in South Korea in 2015.
