Praxair China has started-up a large air separation plant in Wuwei, Anhui province, to supply gases to the Anhui Wuwei coal-based chemicals project of Anhui HuaYi Chemical Co., Ltd.
The new plant, only 100km from Nanjing, will supply oxygen, nitrogen, and clean air to the coal-based projects.
The single-train air separation unit, with a capacity of 3,000 tons per day, will also generate liquid oxygen, nitrogen and argon. The new supply will be integrated with Praxair China’s liquid production and distribution network in the region, improving distribution efficiency and reliability to the customers in the rapidly growing regional merchant market.
The start-up is seen as another example of Praxair China’s demonstrated capability to supply oxygen to coal gasification units, which provide feedstock to the chemical industry.
