Plans for a green hydrogen-powered steel facility are gathering momentum at Boden in Sweden.
Last week H2 Green Steel signed debt financing agreements for €4.2bn in project financing, increasing the previously announced equity by €300m.
And today, the SMS group, a specialist in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the metals industry, selected ABB’s latest generation of drives to provide process technology.
ABB will provide around 1,200 ACS880 low voltage (LV) drives for use throughout nine demanding areas of plant, including the tunnel furnace, plate mill, and the annealing and galvanizing line.
