Global energy company Woodside has signed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) sales and purchase agreement with Pilgangoora Operations, a 100%-owned subsidiary of Pilbara Minerals.
Announced today (21st December), the deal will see Woodside supply the LNG from its Pluto Truck loading facility. Supply will be approximately 3.4 terajoules per day and will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.
The LNG will be used at Pilbara Minerals’ Pilgangoora lithium operation, location 300km east of Karratha, where it will replace diesel for power generation.
Meg O’Neil, CEO of Woodside, said the deal demonstrates the role LNG can play in the energy transition.
