Gas separation technology company Oxair has introduced its innovative pressure swing adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generation technology to enhance the shelf life of harvested fruits at Eagleview Orchard in Kirup, Western Australia.
This is now at the heart of Eagleview’s controlled atmosphere coolrooms, where it plays a key role in extending the freshness of apple and pear harvests.
Oxair’s nitrogen generator operates by reducing the oxygen content in the air within the coolroom, essentially slowing down the respiration of stored fruit. This method allows for optimal freshness to be maintained over extended periods.
