Remote tanks monitoring business Otodata has earned ISO 27001 certification for its information technology security practices.
The ISO 27001 certification is an international standard that sets the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and improving information security management systems.
The certification also protects information assets by managing the security risks related to the use, storage, and transmission of information.
By following ISO 27001, Otodata will ensure it has a framework to help protect information assets while building a strong culture of security awareness.
Founded in 2008, Otodata’s telemetry tools enable fuel and industrial gas marketers to monitor their tanks remotely, providing real-time data on product volumes in tanks.
Speaking to gasworld in December, the company’s Vice-President of Industrial Solutions said that the company has completed over 150,000 installations, with most of those in the US.
However, he noted that there is an ongoing struggle to develop and train enough technicians to install all the telemetry units needed for the industrial gas market. This is especially true in the food and beverage industry, where demand for telemetry is outpacing the capacity of the workforce, he explained.
