Osaka Gas Liquide has established a fully-owned company to produce and sell liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2) and dry ice in Nagaoka City, Niigata. The plant will be the company’s first industrial gas plant outside the Kansai district.
Carbon dioxide is a by-product gas generated in oil refinery facilities or from an ammonia producing process. In recent years the supply of crude CO2 has ran short over the country due to the down-scaling of producer’s facilities.
Mitsubishi Gas Chemical closed Niigata Plant in 2015 which had been producing ammonia in Tohoku/Hokuriku Districts. Since then the situation of no CO2 gas source has been enduring.
