Nikkiso Clean Energy and Industrial Gases (Nikkiso CEIG) has joined SEA-LNG, a coalition established to demonstrate the commercial and environmental benefits of LNG for maritime applications.
Based in California, Nikkiso CEIG offers equipment, technologies, and engineering services to support the safe operation of LNG as a marine fuel. The company’s SEA-LNG membership will now open new collaboration opportunities for cryogenic pumps and process systems.
Peter Keller, Chairman of SEA-LNG, notes that LNG can deliver on decarbonisation with immediate greenhouse gas emissions reductions and providing a low-risk pathway for decarbonisation through bio-LNG and renewable synthetic e-LNG.
Bio-LNG is derived from renewable resources, such as organics waste, not from fossil resources, making it a 100% biofuel. A joint paper published by the European Biogas Association (EBA) and partners revealed that bio-LNG could be set to play a significant role in decarbonising heavy transport.
