NextDecade Corporation is looking into carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies to reduce carbon emissions at its proposed Rio Grande LNG facility.
The company said that CCS technologies, in conjunction with its proprietary processes, could reduce carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions at the facility by approximately 90%.
Throughout the course of its pre-FID development activities, NextDecade evaluated multiple technical solutions to ascertain the commercial viability of reducing CO2e emissions.
Matt Schatzman, NextDecade’s Chairman and CEO, said, “Our work to date confirms that reliable, competitively priced LNG and responsible environmental stewardship are not mutually exclusive.”
