Showa Denko K.K. has opened its new specialty gas storage facility in Anseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The unit is intended to better serve the growing semiconductor and liquid crystal display (LCD) market in that country.
The facility has been constructed through Korea Showa Chemicals Co. (KSC), a fully owned subsidiary of SDK established in August 2006. An opening ceremony was held at the site yesterday.
Reflecting the rapid increase in semiconductor/LCD production in recent years, South Korea’s demand for specialty gases for etching, cleaning and film-forming purposes has been increasing sharply. SDK has been supporting the South Korean market with specialty gases produced at its Kawasaki Plant in Japan.
Since November last year, KSC has been directly receiving orders from South Korean customers and providing them with technical/quality support. With the completion of the storage facility, KSC will step up its activities to better serve the market, ensuring more timely and reliable services.
