Energy solutions company GFI LNG LP (GFI) has partnered with Houston-based clean energy infrastructure developer Pilot LNG (Pilot) to launch a small-scale liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Salina Cruz, Mexico.
Once completed, the facility is expected to produce 600,000 gallons of LNG per day from its start-up date of mid-to-late 2027. The project will use modular, land-based liquefaction technology paired with a storage system.
Central to the plan is the deployment of a floating storage unit (FSU) with a capacity between 50,000 and 140,000 cubic metres, which will be anchored within the newly expanded breakwater at the Port of Salina Cruz.
