New Fortress Energy has resumed production at its Fast LNG 1 site located offshore Altamira, Mexico, following a planned outage at the facility.
The planned shutdown happened after the US liquefied natural gas (LNG) specialist shipped its first cargo in August. New Fortress Energy produced its first LNG at the location in July 2024.

Now restarted, the Fast LNG 1 unit is expected to continue its production ramp and will reach full production later this month.
Fast LNG has a production capacity of 1.4 million tonnes of LNG per annum and hopes to play a pivotal role in supplying low-cost, clean LNG to downstream terminal customers.
In June 2023, New Fortress Energy received an export permit that authorised the export of up to 7.8 million metric tonnes through April 2028, providing ample capacity to support the operations.
US cryogenic equipment manufacturer Chart Industries has supplied its Integrated Pre-Cooled Single Mixed Refrigerant (IPSMR®) process technology to support the Fast LNG project.
Fast LNG was developed in partnership with CFE, Mexico’s state-owned electric utility.
