New Fortress Energy has successfully produced the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) at its Fast LNG asset located offshore Altamira, Mexico.
Fast LNG has a production capacity of 1.4 million tonnes of LNG per annum and hopes to play a pivotal role in supplying low-cost, clean LNG to downstream terminal customers.
In June 2023, New Fortress Energy received an export permit that authorised the export of up to 7.8 million metric tonnes through April 2028, providing ample capacity to support the operations.
Wes Edens, Chairman and CEO of New Fortress Energy, said the news represents a transformative moment for the company and the industry as a whole.
