UK based gas safety, control, mixing and analysis equipment supplier, Witt Gas Techniques Ltd, has launched two new compact gas analysers PA-O2 and PA-O2/CO2 to monitor the oxygen and carbon dioxide content in food modified atmosphere packaging (MAP).
These analysers are designed for continuous analysis in line as well as intermittent sampling using a needle. The unit will record the last 100 measurements and when downloaded using the Witt-Logger Software the data can be used for quality control documentation. Only the smallest sample is needed to obtain a measurement, the results are fast taking around six seconds.
If the gas contents exceed the set minimum or maximum limits, these analysers will trigger an alarm which can be used to shut down the packaging line to ensure no further quality problems are encountered.
For O2 monitoring, a chemical measuring cell is used with a range of 0-100% and for CO2 monitoring an infrared measuring cell is used with a range between 0- 30% or 0-100% depending on the users requirements. The interface is RS232 with ASCII output of date, time and measured value.
