Neste has supplied sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Emirates for flights departing from Singapore Changi Airport.
The Dubai carrier becomes the first international visiting airline using SAF supplied at the airport from Neste’s Singapore refinery. To meet Emirates’ needs, over 2,600 tonnes (3.3 million litres) of blended SAF have been supplied into the fuelling system at Changi Airport over the course of the last few weeks.
Singapore announced in February that SAF must be used in departing flights from 2026 (click here). While the initial targets are modest – 1%, rising to 3-5% by 2030 – it marks a significant move from one of the world’s leading aviation hubs, as policymakers and airlines come under increased pressure to stem emissions, and pay for decarbonisation.
Earlier this year, Neste supplied over 6,000 tonnes of blended SAF to Emirates at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.
