NASA, Boeing further delay Starliner launch due to helium leaks and thruster issues

Following a series of helium leaks and thruster issues, NASA and Boeing teams are now targeting no earlier than 25th June for the undocking of the Starliner spacecraft from the International Space Station.

NASA and Boeing have delayed the launch date several times now due to various issues.

Speaking on a recent teleconference, Steve Stitch, Manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Programme, said the teams have been taking the extra time to understand the service module and factories relative to the helium leaks.

Paired with thruster issues, including having five thruster fails, helium leaks have proved to be a significant hurdle to date for the Starliner launch.
