Abu Dhabi-based international energy company Mubadala Energy (Mubadala) has reported enhanced performance across its environmental, social and governance (ESG) indicators and its efforts to tackle greenhouse gas emissions in its 2022 Sustainability Report.
Having unveiled a new name and brand to underline its priority to focus on lower carbon energies, Mubadala also released a new sustainability strategy centred on expanding its business in low-carbon solutions supporting the energy transition.
According to the report, the company reported a 41% decrease in Scope 1 GHG emissions intensity between 2021 and 2022, in addition to a 20% decrease in its overall energy intensity. This was due to the company expanding its gas-focus as a lower carbon fuel source.
Mubadala also hit a 2022 production milestone of 500,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe/d) production, of which almost 70% is natural gas.
