A new era in the history of LNG transportation was heralded recently, as the world’s largest LNG vessel arrived on its maiden visit to the South Hook LNG Terminal in Milford Haven, Wales (UK).
The ‘Mozah’ Q-Max ship has a capacity of 266,000 cubic metres and is one of 14 ships built and delivered for the Qatargas 2 project. The ship was so named during a special ceremony by Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned.
The first time that either the Mozah or a Q-max ship has delivered LNG to the UK,
Qatargas Chairman and CEO Faisal M. Al Suwaidi explained, “The Q-Max was built and designed to deliver cargoes to these distant markets from Qatar. The Q-Max is a key element in the integrated value chain which made it economically viable for us to deliver cargos to the UK and beyond.”
“This is an historic occasion for Qatargas as it is the first time the Mozah and a Q-Max has delivered an LNG cargo to the UK.”
