Mosman Oil and Gas Limited (Mosman) has been granted approval from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe to lease 4,320 acres of land to explore for helium in Colorado.
The acreage was eyed by the helium, hydrogen, and hydrocarbon exploration and development company after an extensive technical review. The acreage is near many existing discoveries in the Four Corners area.
Andy Carroll, CEO of Mosman, described the news as a major exploration project secured in a very attractive area for helium exploration.
“The Four Corners area has been a major focus of Masman and, at the point this lease is subsequently granted, will complement our existing exploration project portfolio in south-eastern Colorado and Australia.”
Following the news, Mosman plans to finalise the programme of development, a general description of the company’s planned activities on tribal land.
The process is expected to be finalised by the end of January 2025.
Four Corners Helium has been working with the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe in Southwest Colorado for the past four years. The company was given access to all tribal seismic data, plus a right of first refusal on helium leases within the Tribal boundary.
