Monarch Energy is looking to develop a $426m hydrogen plant in Ascension Parish, Louisiana, capable of producing 120,000kg of hydrogen per day.
The US-based energy company plans to use electrolysis to produce the hydrogen, which will then be sold as a “green feedstock” for a wide range of industrial and chemical processes.

As well as producing clean hydrogen, the plant will create 44 direct jobs. Construction of the site is expected to create an additional 300 jobs.
