Europe will witness the development of its first-ever ammonia-fired power generation facility following an agreement signed between Mitsubishi Power Europe Limited (Mitsubishi), Centrica plc and Bord Gais Energy.
To be located at Bord Gais Energy’s Whitegate Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) power station in Cork, Ireland, the project will use low carbon ammonia as a sustainable fuel source for power generation.
As one of only two such facilities in the world, the site will also serve as a global demonstration for ammonia-fired power generation technology.
