Zhejiang Energy International (Zhejiang Energy) and Mexico Pacific (Mexico Pacific) have signed a 20-year liquified natural gas (LNG) sales and purchase agreement.
Under terms of the deal, Mexico Pacific will supply the Chinese energy company with one million tonnes per year of LNG from its Saguaro Energia export facility in Puerto Libertad, Sonora, Mexico.
Zhejiang Energy will purchase the LNG on a free on-board basis over a term of 20 years.
Van der Walt, CEO of Mexico Pacific, notes LNG as an important pillar to China’s energy security needs and its underlying green policy ambitions.
