The family-owned industrial gases specialist has published its Corporate Responsibility Report 2020, indicating a carbon dioxide (CO2) footprint reduction of about 40,000 metric tonnes.
This reduction was achieved primarily through the company’s continuous development of air separation units (ASU’s) and installation of local plants to eliminate the need for gas deliveries in large quantities.
Employee safety was also enhanced, with the number of reportable industrial accidents falling from 97 to 83. This reflects Messer’s focus on health and safety, with the company organising an annual worldwide action day, in addition to an entire safety week due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The company also published an annual Diversity Report for the first time in 2020, the company expresses a desire to increase the share of women in first and second management levels to 30% by 2030.
